Barry’s, a fitness chain with over 70 locations across the U.S. and around the world, is planning to open its first Connecticut studio in Darien, according to an announcement from commercial real estate firm Saugatuck Commercial Real Estate (SCRE) on Monday.
Barry’s has signed a lease at The Corbin District to open in a 4,373 square foot space at 20 Corbin Drive, Building B. The studio is planned to open in the third quarter of 2026, a news release from SCRE said.
Formerly known as Barry’s Bootcamp, the brand was founded in West Hollywood, Calif. in 1998, and utilizes High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Fitness classes alternate between weight lifting and cardio, and focus on different muscle groups.
There are several Barry’s studios in New York City and Long Island. The closest location to Darien is currently in Scarsdale, N.Y.
A Barry’s location was approved in 2022 to open at a Greenwich office park, but it’s unclear what the status is of the project. There are no Connecticut studios currently listed on the Barry’s website.
The news of the Darien studio comes on the heels of an announcement last week that Boston-based business Tatte Bakery and Café will open at The Corbin District.
Developed by Baywater Properties and located on seven acres in the heart of Darien, The Corbin District features a variety of shops and restaurants, as well as fitness options, offices and residential units.
“We are working hard to sprinkle among the pre-existing stores dynamic regional restaurants and retailers, such as Rhone and Hinoki and Millies Restaurant, along with the coolest concepts from New York City, like Barry’s… and YogaSpark,” Baywater Properties CEO David Genovese said in a written statement to Patch last week. “We are confident that by mixing the tenancy in this way, we can create a highly energized, more walkable downtown for Darien and residents of the region to enjoy. We are so excited to unveil our work to the community in the summer and fall of 2026.”
